Ciro A. Scalera - Trustee
Ciro Scalera is Director of Governmental Relations for New Jersey Laborers’ – Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (NJLECET). This is a joint labor-management fund of the NJ Laborers’ Union and represents 25,000 laborers in NJ and their signatory contractors. He is responsible for Legislative Affairs and assists in business development for the Trust.
Prior to joining NJ LECET, Scalera worked for 10 years as Director of Public Affairs for Verizon NJ. He reported to the State President Dennis Bone and was responsible for Economic Development and assisted in Government Affairs
Prior to joining Verizon in 2002, Scalera was Chief of Management and Policy for the N.J. Office of the Governor, reporting to Governor Donald T. DiFrancesco.
Before his position in the Governor's Office, he was Executive Director at the Association for Children of New Jersey for 23 years. This is a statewide child advocacy organization.
He was on the Board of the NJ Economic Development Authority from 2002-2006 and has served on over 10 Boards in his career. He was elected and served for 7 years on the Berkeley Heights Board of Education.
He is a Board Member and Treasurer of the New Jersey Sharing Network, the federally designated Organ Procurement Organization for NJ. He recently served as the Chairman of the newly established Foundation for University Hospital in Newark.
Scalera received his BA and his MBA from Rutgers University. He also has a J.D. from San Francisco Law School.
He is married with 3 children and still resides in Berkeley Heights, NJ.
