The Borinqueneers Park Education Alliance is a NJ Non- Profit Corporation operated exclusively for educational purposes in fostering Hispanic Cultural Heritage, Education and Fraternity through the construction of a veterans memorial for the Puerto Rican 65th Infantry Regiment nicknamed the Borinqueneers, the only Hispanic -segregated unit in US Army History in Perth Amboy ,NJ. The regiment was given the nickname after the original Taíno Indian name for Puerto Rico, Borinquen, which means "land of the brave lord" In addition, the alliance seeks to:
- Honor and educate the public of the regiment’s heroic deeds during the Korean Conflict for which they were awarded a Congressional Gold Medal, and other Hispanic cultural and educational programs.
- Consult, fundraise, and act as voluntary steward for the creation of a 6-acre urban recreational park adjacent to the 65th Infantry Regiment Veterans Memorial.
- Brand Perth Amboy as a welcoming community to live.
The Corporation is established within the meaning of IRS Publication 557 Section 501(c)(3) Organization of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (the "Code") or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code. We are a registered charity in compliance with the NJ Office of the Attorney General, Division of Consumer Affairs. Pursuant to the Charitable Registration and Investigation Act, N.J.S.A. 45: 17A-18 et seq. (the CR Act), and its accompanying regulations, N.J.A.C. 13:48-1.1 et seq.
